What is ALW Program?
The Assisted Living Waiver Program (ALWP) is a state initiative developed by the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) aimed at supporting individuals in receiving the same level of care as in nursing facilities, but in an assisted living environment. This program facilitates the transition from nursing facilities to a more community-oriented setting, promoting greater independence and quality of life.
To qualify:
- Be eligible for Medi-Cal without a share of cost
- Be at least 65 years old or 21 years old, if disabled
- Have a need for a specific level and type of care
care coordinating agencies (cca)
